Cabinet construction and finishing can be difficult to understand without some research.
Not all cabinetry is created equal. We use 3/4″ material for all cabinet construction, compared to 1/2″ or even 1/4″ material used in most “Factory” cabinets. This is very important because it’s the strength of the cabinet that determines whether the cabinet will last only 5 years or 25 years.
Another area we pay special attention to is drawers. We use high quality dovetail drawers made of hardwood not plywood or fiber board as with many commercial cabinets, with Blum commercial quality full extension, soft close slides rated for 100 lbs to ensure many years of use.
Out of Wood Designs cabinetry is built with quality materials and craftsmanship.
The wood species you choose for your cabinetry can really change the look and feel of your project. If you are using an painted finish then the wood species is not as important as if you are planning on a stained finish. Stained finishes will allow the natural color and grain of the wood to show through. Stains are designed to enhance the natural beauty of wood. Another thing to consider is the hardness of the wood. We hand pick every board that goes into your project and will discuss all options of wood types to fit your style and desires.
There are so many door styles to choose from at Out of Wood. The door style you choose will help you create the overall style you are trying to achieve. We will work with you to find the style that best matches your desire and home. Options include overlay, inset doors, and specialty doors for unique situations.
Our variety of finishes includes:
- Hand rubbed finishing
- Custom paint colors
Our finishing process is always “green” Using a water based spray lacquer to give your cabinetry a profession appearance that will last the test of time.
Advantages of Custom Design
We can create any style you want from our wide variety of doors, wood types, stains and finishes. Featured styles include:
- Frameless (European overlay)
- Face frame
Rather than limiting your design to the standard 3″ width increments of “Factory” cabinets, we build them any size. That means any width, height or depth. For our customers that means a more functional design with far less filler.
It also means less hassle on the job when a door, soffit or window is framed slightly off spec (which frequently happens), and now a standard cabinet size won’t fit. No problem, we merely build the cabinet to fit the space as is, saving the builder/owner a lot of time and money.
As you can imagine, this flexibility is really a life saver, especially when you’re dealing with custom built-in’s or wide screen entertainment centers.
